The best gatherings are full of good people and great stories. Before Katrina, this space was a restaurant called ‘The Family Tree.’ When I purchased the property a few years back it needed a complete renovation and a whole lot of love. Originally, my idea was simply to have a space where my friends and I could gather to work on costumes, eat and drink, laugh, and create together.

But I quickly realized that we were creating powerful memories for ourselves, and it wasn’t long before I knew I wanted to share this space with any and all who wished to experience its magic.

And so, viola, The Particular was born. My goal is for this to be a place where friends, old and new, can come together to teach, create, inspire, share, and make memories that last a lifetime.

The Lower 9th Ward has been slow to fully recover from Katrina, often neglected of the resources provided to the rest of the city’s efforts to rebuild. As a space supporting locals, we’re passionate about uplifting the people, culture, and community in this unique part of the city.
